Max George suffers unfortunate mishap just hours after pacemaker operation following for mystery ‘heart issues’
The Wanted singer Max George had an unexpected mishap following his heart surgery, flooding his hospital room at 2am after accidentally leaving a sink running.
The 36-year-old star, who recently underwent pacemaker surgery, was forced to move to a new room when the blocked sink led to approximately a foot of water covering his floor.
The incident occurred shortly after his two-and-a-half-hour operation at an NHS hospital, where he had the device fitted to address heart issues.
George shared details of the incident on his Instagram Stories, still sounding weak after his surgery.
“Just got out of bed then; 2am it is. My feet just went into about a foot of water. I left my, I left my sink on and it blocked,” he explained.
After being moved to a new room, the singer maintained his sense of humour about the situation, telling followers with a smile: “So I’ve got a nice new gaff. It’s pretty sound.”
In an update shared on Saturday, George described the pacemaker as “the best Christmas present I could’ve ever wished for.”
The operation took longer than expected due to complications. “The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go,” he explained.
The singer revealed his surgeon had thoughtfully placed the pacemaker beneath a special tattoo – the birth date of his late bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away in 2022.
George’s girlfriend, former EastEnders star Maisie Smith, has confirmed she will visit him in hospital on Christmas Day despite facing a 500-mile round trip.
“We’re still talking every day and FaceTiming. I’m still trying to be there as much as I can be,” Smith told The Sun.
The 23-year-old actress added: “He seems in happier spirits. It was lovely to see him because we’re quite far away from each other, so it was lovely to see him and his family.”
It was recently reported that whilst Smith was fully supporting her boyfriend and his health concerns, she was struggling to juggle her personal life and her professional work.
An insider told The Sun: “All she wants to do is be by his bedside day and night but she’s committed to her panto show and doesn’t want to let anyone down.”
The source added that Smith is “juggling everything” while trying to visit George during hospital hours around her performance schedule.
“Max is on her mind 24/7 and she wants more than anything for him to be better as soon as possible,” the insider revealed.

He expressed profound gratitude to the NHS staff, saying: “The hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.”
The star added that he now plans to “rest and then tackle life full on once again.”
