Amanda Holden breaks down in tears live on air after receiving emotional messages for little boy, 9, fighting cancer

Amanda Holden and co-host Jason King – JK – were overcome with emotion during Wednesday’s Heart Radio Breakfast Show whilst hosting a special segment for a nine-year-old guest battling cancer.

The presenters, along with young Harry Evans and his mother Lisa, were left in tears as they played touching messages from the boy’s friends and teachers in the studio.

The emotional broadcast came after the station had treated Evans and his brother Reece to gifts at the Lego store the previous day.

Evans’ life changed dramatically last year when doctors discovered a large tumour in the back of his brain.

Medical professionals also found the cancer had spread down his spinal cord, requiring extensive treatment including chemotherapy.

The brave youngster has been fighting cancer for over a year, showing remarkable resilience throughout his treatment journey.

During the emotional segment, one of Evans’ friends shared a heartfelt message: “I was just shocked to hear the news, and just… why does it have to happen to him?

“Brain tumours don’t happen that often, but they have to happen to him. Harry, I can’t wait to play with you soon.”

Some of his teachers also expressed their support, with one calling Harry “an absolute star.”

As the messages ended, Holden pulled herself together and quipped: “Oh wow, we are all crying here, every single person in the studio. What an incredible bunch of friends and teachers you have, what a lucky boy.”

A tearful JK added: “It is so nice to see your response to that when all your friends were saying ‘Hi’ and you smiled.

“And [I’m] also a bit emotional because you love them so much and they love you, they really do.”

The surprises continued as Amanda revealed Evans’ friends and teachers had organised a VIP Harry Potter tour for him.

In a special moment, Evans received a phone call from Santa himself, who invited both him and his brother to Lapland – leaving the youngster shocked and grateful for the gifts.

The story of Evans hits close to home for Holden and JK, as their co-star Jamie Theakston is currently battling laryngeal cancer.

Back in September, he issued a statement which read: “So – I have cancer – but cancer doesn’t have me.
