Max George, 36, delivers upbeat update from hospital bed after The Wanted star’s ‘heart issues’ emergency dash

Max George has issued a positive update from his hospital bed after he revealed he had fallen seriously ill and would be spending time in hospital over Christmas.

The star was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after falling unwell, leaving medical tests to uncover some concerning cardiac problems.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star is currently waiting for further tests to determine the full extent of his condition and if any surgery will be required to help him recover.

The singer shared the news with fans on Thursday through a candid social media post from his bed.

It read: “Hey everyone. Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken to hospital. Unfortunately, after some tests, they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.

“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.

“It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks/months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!

“But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100 per cent in the best place.

“Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a setback, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was.

“Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks…

“I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do! Let’s do this! Much love, Max.”

The exact nature of his heart condition has not been disclosed, leaving the singer to maintain a determined outlook.

Today, the star posted an update on his Instagram story which revealed he is in good spirits and continuing to get better.

George posted his friend’s Instagram story to his own, which read: “Few laughs out of you today mate. Be on the mend in no time. Chin up son.”

The singer replied: “I was laughing AT you, Kevin. Lovely to see you mate.”

Many of his friends and family were quick to comment on his original post, with girlfriend Maisie Smith penning: “Love you Max,” alongside a red love heart emoji.
