National Lottery winner celebrates HUGE £110K prize after buying last minute ticket – ‘I went from screaming to crying!’

A mum-of-two is celebrating after winning £110,304.60 in the EuroMillions draw, following a last-minute decision to buy a ticket at Tesco.

Sheena Clayton, 37, who works as a carer, almost missed out on the life-changing win in the November 22 draw after finishing a night shift.

The lucky winner from Northallerton, who usually purchases her tickets online, had been too tired to think about buying her weekly EuroMillions ticket until a fortuitous trip to the shops with her son.

“It was only because one of my sons wanted something from the shop that I ventured out to Tesco and as I was paying thought – ahh I can buy a ticket – and I did,” said Sheena.

“And thank goodness I did – I guess I owe this win to my son. If it wasn’t for him I would not have gone to Tesco and would not have bought a ticket for that evening’s draw,” she added.

The mother of two boys, aged nine and 11, had been too exhausted to use her usual online method after finishing her night shift at a residential care home.

Sheena matched the winning numbers 10, 11, 12, 29, 31 and Lucky Star 8 with her Lucky Dip ticket purchased at the East Road Tesco in Northallerton.

“I just could not believe what I was seeing. I thought someone was just playing a joke on me – I went from screaming to crying to just feeling in total shock,” she revealed.

The news is still sinking in for the lucky winner, who added: “It is just surreal – I feel I am proof that winning The National Lottery does really happen – and happens to ordinary people like me.”

The lucky winner revealed that a caravan tops the family’s shopping list, enabling them to fulfil their dream of family adventures.

“A caravan is something we have always wanted as a family so we can go on lots of adventures with the boys,” Sheena explained.

The family, who currently live in rented accommodation, is already planning trips to Wales and the Scottish coastline.

A house deposit is also high on their wish list, along with plans for “the best family Christmas ever” and a new sofa.

The mum, who is a carer in a residential home, says she has no plans to reduce her hours at work, going straight back to work four hours after discovering she was a EuroMillions winner.

She added: “I love my job and I love everyone I work with so there was no way I wasn’t going into work. People rely on me!”
