Barry Keoghan takes drastic step amid split from Sabrina Carpenter after facing ‘hatred’ and ‘absolute lies’
Barry Keoghan has taken the drastic step of deactivating his Instagram account and issued a powerful statement addressing the “lies and hatred” he has received following his reported split from Sabrina Carpenter.
The Saltburn star’s Instagram profile became unavailable on Saturday morning, just hours after he had posted “thirst trap” photos showing off his muscular arms in a teal green sweater vest.
The 32-year-old Irish actor’s social media exit comes amid widespread speculation about his break-up with the 25-year-old American singer, which was confirmed earlier this week.
The couple, who had been dating for nearly a year after meeting at Paris Fashion Week in late 2023, reportedly ended their relationship due to conflicting schedules and time spent apart.
A source close to the couple told Us Weekly that their relationship became strained when Carpenter began touring, making it “challenging” to maintain their connection amid her rising career.
“All the time spent apart it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding,” the insider revealed.
The split reportedly occurred within the last month, with both parties agreeing it wasn’t working due to their misaligned schedules.
Just last month, Keoghan had spoken warmly about Carpenter on the Louis Theroux Podcast, describing her as “such a strong, independent lady” and saying he felt “incredibly blessed.”
The couple had made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May, with Keoghan also appearing in Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” music video.
Taking to X on Saturday, Keoghan broke his silence on the intense public scrutiny, stating: “I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond too.”
Please be respectful

The actor revealed he had deactivated his Instagram account as he could “no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.”
He detailed disturbing harassment of his family members, writing: “Knocking on my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them. That’s crossing a line.”
The BAFTA winner expressed particular concern about his two-year-old son Brando, stating: “I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all.”
Keoghan also addressed “absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary” about his appearance, character and parenting abilities.
Amid the couple’s split, rumours emerged suggesting Keoghan had been unfaithful with OnlyFans star Breckie Hill after being spotted with her at a Hollywood hotel.
However, a source close to the actor has firmly denied these allegations, telling Us Weekly that Keoghan was “very devoted to her happiness.”

The insider explained that the real reason for the split was that Carpenter was “being pulled in so many directions” and didn’t have enough time to “commit to a relationship.”
Before deactivating his Instagram, Keoghan had posted several photos on Friday, including one showing him in a motorcycle helmet with his “icy blue eyes” visible through the raised face shield.
Carpenter has maintained public appearances, recently attending a screening for her Netflix Christmas special.
