Noel Radford dealt huge blow as 22 Kids and Counting star slapped with four-figure fine after court summons

22 Kids and Counting has made household names out of the Radford family, particularly parents Noel, 53, and wife Sue, 49.

The Channel 5 stars also have a big following on social media, with fans fascinated by their ever-growing brood.

The Radfords have maintained quite a wholesome reputation, but Noel has recently been slapped with a huge fine after appearing in court.

The father-of-22 was accused of speeding and appeared before Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, reports The Star.

He was accused of driving 52mph in a 40mph zone close to the family home in Morecambe. The incident happened last November.

The court heard how despite receiving a letter regarding the speeding incident, Radford failed to respond.

The well-known pie shop owner pleaded guilty to failing to give driver identification details. Radford was given six points on his licence as well as a £900 fine.

The TV personality’s case had initially been listed as a trial, with Radford summoned to appear in court in September, but it was adjourned when he failed to show up.

On top of the £900 fine, Radford was also required to pay a surcharge of £360 as well as additional costs of £200, with the Channel 5 star agreeing to settle for a total of £1,460 in three monthly instalments.

The incident will no doubt have come as a blow to the family, who first found fame in 2012 with 15 Kids and Counting.

As Britain’s largest family, the Radford series continues to intrigue viewers as they get a unique perspective into their unconventional lives.

The latest series saw the family patriarch making what was deemed a “selfish” admission though, with fans criticising him online following the latest series.

One episode, which aired in July, saw him expressing some disappointment that the demands of being a father for so long had meant he’d made certain sacrifices.

During a hike with fellow parents his age, Noel started comparing his life with those of his peers whose children have already flown the nest, leaving them to enjoy more free time.

He reflected how, for the Radfords, ”it’s always been work and family, that’s it”.

He went on to admit he felt as though his “wings are clipped” in an unexpected confession.

“Seeing my mates enjoy themselves is a real wake-up call. If I wait until all of my kids have flown the nest, I’ll just be too old to do the things that I want to do,” he added.

He continued: ”It sounds selfish, doesn’t it? But yeah, maybe I do need to find some time for myself.”

The conflicted father also revealed to his wife that he’d been inspired by an old friend, Will, who had relocated Down Under years ago.

He suggested getting a property in Australia, which concerned a shocked Sue, who started to question herself following Noel’s sudden change of heart.

For now, the Radfords remain in Morecambe in their family home after plans to move house fell through earlier this year.
