BBC Sort Your Life Out viewers divided over family as they blast ‘selfish’ impact on children: ‘It’s ridiculous’

Stacey Solomon and her team were back on screens on Tuesday as they helped another family to de-clutter their home in Sort Your Life Out. However, the episode left fans divided.

Solomon, 35, travelled to the West Midlands to meet the Clarke family, whose home had been overtaken by the households’ many hobbies.

With the help of presenter Solomon, parents Sarah and Jon soon came to the realisation they owned 112 board games, 4,017 plastic toys and 433 pieces of wood crafts.

Jon also owned 10 bicycles, meaning the family had a lot to sift through when deciding what to hold onto and what to leave behind.

The blended family also consisted of three children: 14-year-old Timeon, 11-year-old Caitlin and eight-year-old Owen.

Due to the vast clutter piled up in every room, Caitlin and Owen were forced to share a bedroom despite the house having enough rooms for each of the children.

Unfortunately, it had become jam-packed with Sarah’s craft items and was unsuitable for the youngster to sleep in.

While some blasted the parents as “selfish” for their children having less space than they could have, others took a more sympathetic approach.

BBC Sort Your Life Out viewers ‘struggling to find sympathy’ as they’re left ‘disgusted’ by ‘filthy’ family

Jon and Sarah are both deaf, and each shared their experiences of growing up, with Sarah explaining her love for reading and crafts developed as a child when she tried to overcome the communication barrier she faced.

While Sarah became emotional at some points as she struggled to give items up, the family were delighted with the final result.

The children were also overjoyed, and fans quickly noted their polite reactions, praising Sarah and Jon on the “brilliant job” they’d done with their children, contrasting with the viewers who had slammed the pair.

Taking to X, one such viewer complained: “I don’t care what anyone says, it’s not fair making your children live in conditions like that. It’s very selfish #SortYourLifeOut.”

Responding, another wrote: “Especially the kids having to share a room because mum’s filled the daughters bedroom with her own crafting…”

“They’ve got 2 kids sharing a room because one room is chockablock full of c**p. It’s ridiculous #SortYourLifeOut,” a third agreed.

Someone else penned: “Seriously, you could sit at that kid’s bookcase and weed out what you don’t need in about half an hour… #sortyourlifeout.”

However, others were sympathetic towards the family’s cluttering problem, while others applauded the Clarke’s parenting.

“What gorgeous children, parents have done a brilliant job! #SortYourLifeOut,” one noted.

Another agreed: “These children are adorable. Such a credit to their parents. #SortYourLifeOut.” (sic)

Thankfully, the family were able to release themselves of a significant chunk of their clutter, and the team transformed the home into a place each of them could unwind.

This included revamping the rooms to ensure the younger children could enjoy their own space each.
