Richard Hammond announces split from wife after 28 years as he issues candid statement
Richard Hammond has announced he has split from his wife Amanda after 28 years together.
The 55-year-old shared a statement on his social media on Thursday to announce the shock update.
Taking to X, the former Top Gear star penned: “A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently.
“Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.
“We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created.”
Hammond rounded off the statement by revealing this is the last he’ll be saying on the matter: “We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time.”
Despite the nature of the statement, Hammond and his estranged wife signed off the statement together, writing: “With Love, Richard and Mindy.”
Fans instantly flocked to the comments section to share their condolences, with many wishing the best to the pair.
“Sorry to hear. Hope you get your privacy,” one shared while a second echoed: “Sorry to hear that buddy. Best of luck.”
“Best of luck Richard and Mindy,” a third well-wisher stated before another weighed in: “All the best to you both.”

The Grand Tour star has been married to Amanda since 2002 after meeting in the late 1990s.
Together, they share two daughters, Izzy and Willow, born in 2001 and 2004 respectively.
According to The Sun, a source has added: “Richard is very upset about all this. It seems he has tried hard to rekindle the relationship but to no avail.
“There is no speculation that any third party is involved.”
Hammond has become a household name since he found fame on BBC’s Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May, with the trio going on to star in The Grand Tour in 2016.
While his wife spent much of their marriage out of the spotlight, Hammond recently announced his podcast that he co-hosts with eldest daughter Izzy, Who We Are Now, is set to release a new series this month.
