Dianne Buswell met with ‘beautiful’ surprise in sweet gesture from boyfriend following BBC Strictly win

Dianne Buswell achieved her dream on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing as she and celebrity partner Chris McCausland lifted the Glitterball Trophy when they emerged as the 2024 winners.

The emotional finale concluded with Buswell, 35, beaming as she thanked the comedian, who made history this year by becoming Strictly’s first blind contestant.

Buswell has starred in the BBC competition since 2017. She enjoyed a successful stint last year, where she and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier were runners-up behind winners Vito Coppola and Ellie Leach.

This year has come as her first ever Strictly win, and her boyfriend Joe Sugg made sure to mark the occasion when she returned to their home following the victory.

Sugg, 33, was paired with Buswell on the BBC competition in 2018, where they made it to the final. The pair soon began dating and now live together.

On Sunday, Sugg shared a special surprise he’d arranged for his partner as he detailed how “proud” he felt.

Taking to Instagram, the YouTube star shared a lengthy tribute expressing full admiration for Buswell, complete with some photos of her, McCausland and the special way he celebrated the win.

One snap showed Buswell smiling broadly as she stood under a homemade sign reading “2024 winner” while she held her trophy.

The floor and the staircase behind her were adorned with balloons Sugg had decorated their home with.

Another photo, taken from behind them, showed the couple with their arms around each other as Buswell once again proudly displayed her trophy in the air.

The heartfelt caption read: “There are no words to describe how proud I am of you both @diannebuswell @chrismccauslandcomedy, Last night was an absolute movie.

“You made us laugh, you made us cry and you proved to the world that you are good enough and you can achieve anything the doubters say you can’t and more.”

Sugg continued: “Chris I thank you for making this year so special for Dianne and I could not be happier that you’re the partner she finally lifted the glitterball with.

“Dot, it’s been a long winding, road full of ups and downs for 7 years but you have shown pure determination & dedication and you finally got there in the best way possible and everyone has been able to see how amazing you are and what an incredible teacher you are this year.

“You are both inspirations and have the nations hearts on behalf of everyone, thank you.” (sic)

Fans were moved to tears by the gesture and Sugg’s pride in his partner, with some “sobbing” over the post.

“Wonderful! I think most of the country were sobbing!!!!” one wrote.

“Sobbing again am I?!? I love how all the other finalists and pros were so happy for them! Joe as her biggest supporter was there to see it but also her parents! unreal!” another shared.
