Alan Halsall shares hidden battle as he exits ITV I’m A Celebrity: ‘I struggled’

Alan Halsall has opened up on a secret struggle he grappled with as he became the seventh contestant to leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

The Coronation Street stalwart was one of the favourites among the camp, but found himself departing the jungle on Friday alongside GK Barry.

He admitted during his exit interview with hosts Ant and Dec that he was actually more scared of the jungle critters than he’d let on.

“I think that’s just how I do things, crack on with it now and just think about it later,” he explained.

McPartlin noted the close friendships he had made in camp, with Halsall confessing he was surprised that at 42, he could still make new friends.

“I was saying what I’ve learned is at 42 years old I can make news friends – maybe I should open up a bit more,” he added.

However, while it seemed as though the actor seemed to take to the experience easily, he revealed he did have some battles.

“I struggled with two things – one, I get emotional speaking about my daughter, I miss her like I can’t imagine,” he revealed.

“Also some boredom… That’s why I play practical jokes!” he continued.

He went on to quip: “Not everyone appreciates it but hey ho, it’s fun.”

Elaborating on missing his daughter, he went on to explain why the jungle visit from his brother meant so much.

“I was able to ask, ‘Is Sienna happy? Is she watching daddy? Is she happy watching daddy?'”

“Not long now pal,” McPartlin reminded him, to which the Coronation Street star replied: “I know, I can’t wait.”

Social media star GK also departed the show on Friday, where she joked upon seeing her highlights: “I can’t believe I’ve been looking like that on television.”

She added: “I feel like I’m so much more comfortable with myself, being me.

“I feel like I’ve found myself – it’ll last a week.”

Meanwhile, Thursday’s double elimination saw Love Island star Maura Higgins and ex boxer Barry McGuigan become the fifth and sixth celebrities to leave the show.

Higgins, 34, also beamed as she looked back at her time on the show.

“I said it yesterday, I felt it was my time to go,” the reality star admitted, seeming unfazed by the elimination.

She also admitted she would be leaving a changed woman, explaining it’s surprising how much the experience leaves an impact.

However, fans were left fuming at the result, particularly with the reality star not making it to the final.

Taking to social media, many raged about how Higgins had been “robbed”.
