Sir Elton John, 77, shares health update as he explains he ‘lost my eyesight’ in candid revelation
Sir Elton John has told crowds in London’s West End “I’ve lost my eyesight,” as he detailed further into his recent health woes.
It comes after the iconic singer opened up earlier this year about his “mortality” as he shared his medical issues in his documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late.
The musician attended the red carpet launch of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical, accompanied by his husband David Furnish.
When he took to the stage, he shared an update on his eye health after revealing months ago he had suffered a “severe eye infection” that had left him partially sighted.
“As some of you may know I have had issues and now I have lost my sight,” he told crowds.
He continued: “I haven’t been able to see the performance but I have enjoyed it.”
The publication detailed how John was later assisted offstage by Furnish, 62.
He thanked his partner in the speech, explaining he has been his “rock”.
“To my husband who’s been my rock because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews… it’s hard for me to see it but I love to hear it and it sounded good tonight OK. Thank you for coming!” he concluded.
The singer detailed in earlier in the year that he’d lost his sight in one eye.
In October, the singer also shared a morbid revelation as he reflected on how he doesn’t “know how much time I have left”.
The confession came in his documentary, with the singing sensation sharing: “I wonder what is going to happen to all of this stuff when I finish.”
He continued: “This is the latter time of my life. I don’t know how much time I have left.
“You think about that more when you get to my age. You think about life and… and death. You think, ‘Well, I just want to be where I want to be now.'”
The star has overcome a string of health issues throughout the years, with recent knee and hip replacements as well as prostate cancer surgery.
According to the publication, he continued: “I don’t have to work after this. I will work and do records and putting radio shows together but travelling takes so much out of you.
