Sir Rod Stewart, 79, issues scathing response to ‘bald-headed bully’ Gregg Wallace axe after ‘humiliating’ wife Penny Lancaster
Sir Rod Stewart issued a scathing response to the news that Gregg Wallace had stepped down from his role on the BBC series MasterChef.
It was announced today that Wallace would depart the show while a series of complaints were made to the BBC from individuals about historical allegations of misconduct being investigated.
It comes after a separate BBC review found he could continue working at the corporation following reports of an alleged 2018 incident.
The report was from his appearance on Impossible Celebrities, with the star later denying “anything sexual” happened while appearing on the game show.
A statement from Banijay UK said: “This week the BBC received complaints from individuals in relation to historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows.
“Whilst these complainants have not raised the allegations directly with our show producers or parent company Banijay UK, we feel that it is appropriate to conduct an immediate, external review to fully and impartially investigate.
“While this review is underway, Gregg Wallace will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef and is committed to fully co-operating throughout the process.
“Banijay UK’s duty of care to staff is always a priority and our expectations regarding behaviour are made clear to both cast and crew on all productions, with multiple ways of raising concerns, including anonymously, clearly promoted on set.
“Whilst these are historical allegations, incidences brought to our attention where these expectations are not met, are thoroughly investigated and addressed appropriately.
“If anyone would like to talk to us or raise any issues or concerns, then they can contact speakupbanijayuk.com in confidence.”
Now, the Maggie May singer has given his verdict on the news through a statement on his Instagram account.
He angrily penned: “So Greg Wallace gets fired from MasterChef. Good riddance Wallace…
“You humiliated my wife when she was on the show, but you had that bit cut out didn’t you? You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart.”
Fans of the musician and his wife were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “I don’t know what this is about but I LOVE IT.
“Authentic and real as they come! Got to love Rod for his music and his person! Let’s goooo Rod,” someone else penned.
“Don’t hold back Sir Rod!” a third said before another expressed: “There’s only one Rod Stewart.”

Stewart seemed to allude to when Lancaster took part in the BBC show back in 2021 and left the judging to boot her due to her timekeeping.
The Loose Women panellist, 53, was up against reality star Megan McKenna and TV presenter Melanie Sykes for a spot in the semi-final but ran well over time when serving up her butternut squash ravioli.
As chaos ensued in the kitchen, Wallace told Lancaster: “Mate, we can’t be 10 minutes late,” calling her delay “serious”.
Before her exit, Lancaster said she would be “quite deflated” to leave the competition because she was “loving this”.
