Davina McCall insists ‘I’m getting stronger’ as she shares brain surgery side effect in candid new update

Davina McCall has provided a new update following the major surgery she recently underwent, telling fans she is “doing much better”.

The former Big Brother presenter left fans concerned recently when she shared she had to have brain surgery after doctors discovered a benign tumour.

She explained her partner Michael Douglas would be updating fans following the procedure, with Douglas going on to announce when the 57-year-old had come out of surgery and inform well-wishers she was doing well.

Earlier this week, McCall broke cover for the first time post-operation in a tearful video assuring fans she was on the mend.

And on Wednesday, the Masked Singer judge shared another video of herself on social media to explain how she’s been doing, appearing to have a bruised eye.

She wrote in the caption: “Every day I feel stronger and stronger. I just wanted to say thanks for all of your support, it meant the world to me and my family.

“And also to @mdlondon, he’s been a complete legend.

“If he’s not with me, he’s at work, for his busiest time of year bless him. I’m sleeping loads. Recovery thru sleep. I still feel so lucky. Grateful. Blessed.” (sic)

Expanding on the positive message, she stated in the short clip: “Hey, just wanted to post a little update on here and let you know how I’m doing.

“I am feeling much better now that I’m home, I’m being brilliantly looked after by Michael and Gabby, my mum.

“And just to say that I’m now just trying to sleep a lot and get better.”

Touching on the physical impacts and side effects of the procedure, McCall went on to add: “My short-term memory’s really improving a lot every day and it has been an example to me of how much sleep helps me recover from everything.

“So if I feel a bit confused or I’m struggling to concentrate I just go to sleep and I wake up renewed and refreshed, so I know that my brain needs a lot of sleep.”

She concluded by thanking fans their “ongoing support”.

During a live-stream on Tuesday, Douglas explained McCall is “definitely out of the woods” as he assured fans of her promising recovery.

He went on to announce the presenter is off work until mid-January.

It comes after McCall posted an initial video earlier this month, explaining she would already be in surgery when fans see the announcement.

“Hi, so when I’m posting this it will be Friday morning,” she began, adding: “I’m posting it because a few months ago I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was going to ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst, which is very rare.

“Three in a million! So I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions.

“I realised that I have to get it taken out. It’s big for the space – it fills the space. It’s 14mm wide. And it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad.”

She went on to insist fans shouldn’t “worry” about her and that she was in good hands.
