Rod Stewart, 79, forced to sell of ‘work of art’ sports cars after road becomes pothole hell
Sir Rod Stewart, 79, has been forced to sell his “beautiful” sports cars as the potholes in his area have become too deep for him to drive the cars.
The Maggie May singer has been driving and collecting iconic Italian cars for the last 50 years.
Stewart stood in front of his fleet of incredible hybrid sports cars in his latest post on Instagram and revealed the reason he was considering selling.
He penned: “I am extremely fortunate and eternally grateful to be the owner of these five beautiful hybrid sports cars, which, in my opinion, are true ‘works of art.’
“Unfortunately, because of the potholes on our roads, I may have to find new owners for them. I’ve been driving these iconic Italian cars since the seventies, and I absolutely love and adore them.
“This post is for my fans—thank you, as you are the sole reason I own them. And to all the trolls… don’t bother; I never read the comments. Sir Rod.”
Fans of the singer quickly flocked to the comments to share their condolences, as one wrote: “Rod – you lucky man, but you’ve worked hard over the years and deserve these fabulous cars!”
Another added: “Sad that the UK roads are in such poor condition and I’m careful with all of my cars for the same reasons.”
“You could pay for some pothole repairs if you really wanted to set an example,” a third penned before a fourth exclaimed: “I run along that road near your house and it’s dreadful!
“Surprised any of your cars make it along there.”
A fifth penned: “I live in a pothole-free area. I’d be glad to store one of those beauties in my garage. I promise to take it out once a week to make sure it’s in running condition.” (sic)
His recent post about potholes comes after he tried to tackle the issue near his Essex home himself.
In 2022, he chucked on a high-vis jacket with some friends and began to fill the potholes after complaining they were damaging his Ferrari.
At the time, he said there had been several incidents along the road: “I’m repairing the street where I live as no one can be bothered to do it. Me and my mates.
“My Ferrari can’t get through here at all! This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages.
“People are smashing their cars up. The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tyre. My Ferrari can’t go through here at all!

“So me and the boys thought we would come and do it ourselves. We are filling the holes while millions and millions of pounds have been spent on the M11.”
The makeshift repair crew were given a telling off by Essex Council, who warned those making the repairs could be liable for future accidents.
The council later said it would re-lay the road to fix the issues with the surface.
A source had told The Sun: “It seems his publicity has finally shamed the council into fixing the road.
“Sir Rod is going to be absolutely chuffed. Good for him.”
