BBC Strictly fans rage ‘someone should be SACKED’ over ‘terrible’ Blackpool Week decision: ‘Ridiculous!’

BBC Strictly fans are in uproar over a key decision bosses have made ahead of the popular dance show’s iconic Blackpool Week.

Every year Strictly brings its glitzy production to Blackpool’s historic ballroom to broadcast a special edited of the dance competition show.

However, fans feel the occasion has already been ruined by poor music choices for the contestants’ dances.

Among the tunes planned, former JLS bandmember JB Gill will perform a Quickstep to Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley while EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick will Jive to The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) by Las Ketchup

Also slated for Blackpool is Miranda lead Sarah Hadland’s Couple’s Choice routine to Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue

I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred will accompany TOWIE star Pete Wicks’ Cha Cha.

Fans made their displeasure with the song choices known as they bombarded social media once the full list of routines and accompanying tracks were shared on Instagram.

“Whoever is choosing the songs, please stop,” one fan said succinctly.

“Song choices this year are pretty awful; they are not matching the dance style,” a second complained.

Taking aim at Borthwick’s song, one poster stated: “The music choices are ridiculous. Who dances a jive to The Ketchup Song? I really think the music doesn’t fit the dance.”

A third slammed the “terrible song choices yet again” and asked: “Who makes the decision?”

Some viewers went even further, calling on Strictly to fire the producers responsible for the soundtrack.

“Whoever is in charge of picking music choices needs to be sacked! Most of these are awful,” one irate fan fumed.

However, not all of the Strictly faithful were outraged with others parsing the tunes.

One fan enthused: “This is going to be the best week on strictly yet. Song choices & dances are immaculate.”

Another declared they were “sooooo looking forward to Strictly’s Blackpool special” adding: “Very interesting selection of songs and dances our remaining couples are dancing to.” (sic)

The 52-year-old narrowly survived a split-decision dance-off last week, after head judge Shirley Ballas chose to send former X Factor winner Shayne Ward home.

The decision led to claims of a “fix” among some members of the fandom as they accused Ballas of “bias” towards Evans.

However, Ballas seemed in high spirits as she broke her silence on the “vitriol” she’s faced in the past few days while looking ahead to Blackpool in an Instagram video.
