Johannes Radebe fans blast ‘absolutely shocking’ BBC Strictly choice after fears he may quit show

Fans of Strictly pro dancer Johannes Radebe were outraged by a decision regarding the South African dancer’s performance on this Saturday’s show.

The complaints come as Radebe, 37, bats away claims he is planning to leave the show at the end the series.

The choreographer performed a Paso Doble with celeb partner Gladiators star Montell Douglas to Lola’s Theme by The Shapeshifters.

Fans were not impressed with the song choice and quickly took to social media to slam Strictly producers for the decision.

One viewer raged: “Absolutely shocking song choice for a Paso! Johannes & Montell were incredible.”

“I wish they’d of been given a different song!!! Simply awful song. However utterly brilliant from Montell & Johannes 8/10,” another fumed.

A third wrote: “I think that was the wrong song for Montell & Johannes. Great attack but the dance didn’t match the track for me.”

However, others were happy with the choice and glowed about Radebe in particular.

“Johannes is the best thing about strictly he just brings the energy and performance every week, great song and great dance for montell,” one said.

Evidently the judges agreed, Radebe and Douglas received four nines on the night which placed them third on this week’s leaderboard.

Head judge Shirley Ballas and fellow judge Motsi Mabuse both enthused about how much they “loved” the dance.

“There was fight and attack in every moment but still with class,” Mabuse declared.

Former Strictly pro and judge Anton Du Beck described Radebe and Douglas’ performance as “so engrossing”.

Craig Revel Horwood called the routine “almost perfect” and marvelled at it as “something else!”

After the show, Douglas revealed she had “fallen in love” with her pro partner’s interpretation of the Paso Doble.

Speaking to the former Olympian, Radebe said: “I thought you were absolutely phenomenal. You never let me down, it’s a wonderful thing to see”

Fans of the South African dancer were particularly concerned as rumours of a potential Strictly exit for Radebe began to circulate recently.

The 37-year-old addressed the speculation on Instagram, posting a clip of himself singing and saying: “I’m not going anywhere,” before he gets up to perform an upbeat dance.

Below the post he wrote: “I’m not going nowhere! The story isnt true – I love @bbcstrictly and I want to do this beautiful show for as long as they want me – and the body will allow.

Radebe made his debut on the Strictly dancefloor in 2018 – since then he has become a fan favourite for his calm nature and friendly approach.
