Angel Adoree left in tears as she opens up on emotional moment from UK return: ‘Was sobbing!’

Escape to the Chateau couple Angel Adoree and Dick Strawbridge may have concluded their hit Channel 4 series back in 2022, but they are still touring and sharing milestone moments with fans.

In a recent episode of the pair’s podcast, Dick and Angel’s Chat… Eau, Adoree, 46, reflected on a recent moment from the family’s experience during a recent UK visit which left her “sobbing”.

The couple share two children, Arthur and Dorothy, who join their parents on their various ventures based on the following they’ve built from the series, which showcased their practical and creative skills as they completely revamped a French chateau.

They recently returned to the UK for a tour, and while they’ve now returned to France, the two shared how it had been to reunite with extended family members as they returned home.

“It was interesting because having had everybody in the dressing room beforehand, we have a quiet sort of interval didn’t we?” Strawbridge, 65, recalled.

“Yeah we did, and that’s a first,” Adoree replied. “Considering we were in the hometown, it was unheard of.

“But I think the thing was to get everyone backstage, by the time they would have been there for halftime, they would have been straight back again.”

“It was interesting. So, mum was there and you know what, I just loved that I could see her,” the former army officer beamed.

Detailing the special moment, he added: “I could see her smiling, surrounded by people she knew.”

“Yeah, your mum had that sparkle in her eyes and you and your mum having a little drink together – oh, it made me cry!” Adoree admitted.

She went on: “Literally, I was sobbing and I had all the makeup on.

“We had some lovely photographs together, lovely memories. Arthur was busy just getting everyone a drink.

“It was one of the memories that I just think will be one of the stand-out memories.”

The two also reflected on meeting a new addition to the family, sharing some sweet baby news with listeners.

Recalling the moment they met Heidi, their great niece, the couple explained their daughter’s excitement.

“She’s a beautiful little baby girl,” Strawbridge shared, adding: “If you’ve listed to the other podcasts, we did the baby shower for them.”

“We’ve been really invested and probably no one more so than our little Dorothy!” Adoree noted.

“Dorothy has been excited, I think we couldn’t have stayed any longer – we’d need to be back in the car with suitcases,” her father quipped.

He continued: “Dorothy and Sarah speak quite a lot on the phone, they have little phone calls. So Dorothy’s seen Heidi most days.”

Adoree detailed a sweet habit of her daughter as she added: “They did this lovely little thing, Sarah had had like a piece of laminated paper that said every week what the baby was like, it was like, ‘it’s the size of a walnut.’

“They’ve had a million conversations, ‘now it’s the size of an orange, now it’s a watermelon, now it’s the size of an avocado.’ That kind of thing.”
