Amanda Owen narrowly escapes ‘injury’ as Anty John’s renovation undergoes major change
Our Farm Next Door star Amanda Owen narrowly escaped an injury in a recent episode of their new Channel 4 series, with a hard hat almost knocking her out.
Owen, her ex-husband Clive and their nine children are working together to renovate their new farmhouse, Anty Johns.
Currently tenants on Ravenseat farm, the family are establishing their roots in the neighbouring farm to make it another permanent home for the family.
The 50-year-old described their new journey as a “dream come true” but opened up about the struggles when it came to a total refurbishment.
During the latest episode, the mother of nine decided she wanted to do something special for the children after herself and Clive had been spending a lot of time at Anty John’s.
Roping in the help of her next-door neighbour Kelly, Owen decided to decorate the derelict building with Christmas decorations.
As Kelly got started, Owen explained: “Kelly is our next-door neighbour, she is married to Richard. George and Harriet their children, played with my kids.
“So, there has always been this toing and froing between Kelly and Richards’ house and ours. Kelly is very artistic, whereas I absolutely ain’t and we’ve just been messing on a bit.”
“If it makes the kids smile then that’s the whole point of it, isn’t it? I want to bring the kids up here when we break up from school and I want them to see there’s some Christmas decorations.
“It’ll be funny. First Christmas Anty John’s seen for hundred years?”
After the pair finished making the decorations and were looking at the outside of the building, Kelly asked: “I know this might sound like a silly question.
“I don’t suppose you fancy putting the tree up, do you?” leaving Owen to love the idea and tell her friends working on the building to “get your hats on!”
As they walk up the ladder, Kelly warned: “Just got steady guys because it’s so windy. I feel like this is a very organic Christmas decoration, sort of rustic.”
Before being able to reply, the hard flew off her friend’s head and narrowly missed her face, leaving the Channel 4 star to shriek: “Did you see that!?
“I was nearly injured by a hard hat there! ‘Doof’ Good grief!”
Despite the upbeat mood at the beginning of the episode, Owen was left blindsided when the “horrific” weather put their renovations on hold.

Opening up about the disappointment, Owen explained: “I feel a bit helpless because there’s not actually a lot I can do.”
“It’s going so slowly at the moment. We come back and it’s like, ‘What’s been done? A few more slate (roof tiles)’.
“I’m getting messages from electricians and heating engineers and of course Phillip the joiner. They want to know (when they can start). I need it to move on.”
