Lulu, 75, sparks outrage with ‘rude’ and ‘antagonistic’ behaviour during TV appearance: ‘Embarrassing herself’

Lulu, 75, has angered a number of ITV viewers following an interview with presenter Ranvir Singh on Tuesday morning.

The singer, who’s about to embark on the second leg of her final-ever tour, appeared on the channel to talk all about taking on a string of dates for the last time.

During the conversation with Singh, Lulu also touched upon an upcoming biopic about her life in the pipeline, the death of Liam Payne, and what the past six decades in the spotlight have been like.

Following the interview, Lulu stuck around as Singh had a fashion segment lined up about styling leopard print clothing into autumnal ensembles.

Dilly Carter soon joined Singh and Lulu along with a few models to show off a series of outfits put together with leopard print features, but the singer’s reactions to the displays left fans rather “irritated”.

“I have very strong opinions on leopard (print), don’t even get me started,” Lulu said within moments of being introduced to Carter, who countered by saying she “loved” the design.

First up on the Lorraine catwalk was model Jane who wore a ruched leopard print dress, an outfit that prompted Carter to explain: “Ruching’s great, especially if you’re paranoid about your stomach.

“It holds you in and makes you feel more confident. She’s got a lovely black jacket with it and a bag -” Carter continued before Lulu cut her off: “I think that’s what saves that outfit.

“You put a black jacket on the top. On its own, too much – for a woman of a certain age,” Lulu tailed off, leading Carter to argue: “I actually think she looks incredible -“

“She looks amazing!” Lulu interjected once more. “Because she’s covered the black with the black bag and the accessories are great.”

Singh tried to ease tensions by claiming Carter was too young to remember Coronation Street icon Bet Lynch, a character synonymous with leopard print played by Julie Goodyear on the ITV soap.

But Carter dismissed Singh and Lulu’s opinion as she continued to praise Jane while the singer ended up apologising after seemingly spotting she was derailing the segment.

Carter said goodbye to Jane by saying she looked “glamorous” and “fabulous” before imparting the thinly veiled dig at her co-stars: “Nothing like Bet Lynch at all!”

Lulu’s criticism kept coming throughout the segment while Carter tried to laud the leopard print ensembles, with the singer even warning viewers: “I think be scared and choose it very carefully. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life.”

As the demonstration continued, Lulu appeared to settle down, which prompted Singh to tease: “The cynicism is going down by the minute isn’t it, Lulu? We’re on-board now.”

After the final model took to the catwalk, Lulu attempted to explain her opposition to the design: “It’s a personal thing. I couldn’t wear a lot of leopard (print) anymore. I’ve done it.

“I’ve done all the variations,” she said before veering off: “You know who my icon is? Kate Moss in the leopard-print coat. For me, that is chic beyond chic.”

The trio managed to end the segment with a laugh between themselves but the tension throughout the demonstration – combined with Lulu’s behaviour – led to anger from ITV viewers at home.
