Punam Krishan suffers huge blow to BBC Strictly future as expert spots ‘tell-tale gesture’

Doctor and TV personality Punam Krishan is tipped to be the next celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing, an expert has claimed.

Krishan, 41, and dance partner Gorka Márquez have found themselves at the bottom end of the leaderboard for most of the series.

Despite this, the pair impressed with their Movie Week Couple’s Choice dance and have so far avoided the dance-off.

However, experts believe their luck may be running out after a woeful 21 points for the couple’s Viennese Waltz left them second to last place in Week Five.

Body language and behavioural expert Darren Stanton believes Krishan could be in for an imminent exit as she is “lacking confidence massively” and added that he had observed a critical lack of “rapport” between her and Gorka.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton noticed Krishan “flashed fear” with a “tell-tale gesture” when receiving feedback from the judges on Saturday.

He continued: “She sticks her tongue out when she is feeling nervous.“

“She doesn’t believe she can win or has what it takes to go much further in the competition.”

Along with confidence, Stanton suggested: “Some of the technical ability is really being called into question, and the minor faults will not be looked over.”

Krishan is one of the two competitors at risk of elimination, with former JLS star JB Gill also expected to struggle.

Stanton concluded: “Everyone else is demonstrating more strength, belief and confidence.”

According to BetMGM, the TV doctor is the bookies’ slight favourite to be eliminated next week with odds of 6/4 on going home.

Despite this, UK Director at BetMGM Sam Behar noted that none of the contestants are “odds-on” to leave the show with several celebs hovering around similar odds.

He added: “It’s not a full-gone conclusion by any means.”

Other contestants at risk of a Halloween Week exit are Sam Quek (6/4), Pete Wicks (5/1), Shayne Ward 11/2 and JB Gill (8/1).

Krishan and Márquez will be hoping to improve on their disappointing results in recent weeks.

Strictly judge Anton Du Beke observed the TV doctor dances “with a sense of I don’t want to go wrong. A little hesitant”.

Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood said the couple’s routine “lacked musicality. It lacked energy in the body”.

Revel Horwood gave them a four, while head judge Shirley Ballas opted for a five. Motsi Mabuse and Du Beke were kinder and lifted the six paddles for Krishnan and Márquez.

For Halloween Week, the pair will be dancing a Tango to Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics.
