Amanda Owen fiercely defended as new C4 series slammed by Our Yorkshire Farm fans: ‘Dull as dishwater!’
Amanda Owen is back on screens in a highly-anticipated new series following Our Yorkshire Farm’s cancellation back in 2022.
The Owen family, consisting of The Yorkshire Shepherdess, Clive Owen and their nine children, built a strong following with the series which followed their lives on Ravenseat Farm, one of the most remote areas in England.
However, following Amanda and Clive’s split, the Channel 5 series had to come to an end. Fans were devastated, but their hopes were raised by the news the couple would be reuniting on screen in Our Farm Next Door.
The More4 series promised to show the former couple, who remain separated but have managed to get past their differences to work together, and the children as they embark on a new project that sees them restoring a run-down farmhouse together.
Amanda, 50, and Clive, 69, have a clear aim in mind with their project: to build a new legacy for their children.
The two have talked about how they have faced some difficult periods over the last couple of years but have reached a place where they can do what they need to do for the Owen clan and secure their children’s futures.
Unfortunately, while fans were looking forward to seeing the Owens back on screens at the farm, the first couple of episodes have failed to impress some.
Many viewers made their feelings clear as they took to the Yorkshire Shepherdess’ Instagram account, but thankfully a flood of fans came to her defence.
It came as Amanda shared a post of the family gathered around the TV together to watch the series, captioning the snaps: “It is not exactly escapism for us.
“You never, ever get used to seeing yourselves on the small screen. If you’ve missed it you can catch up on ……not surprisingly All 4 catchup.”
The post prompted some to slam the new series though, with many clearly believing it didn’t measure up with the Channel 5 series.
One harshly remarked the programme was “dull as dishwater I’m afraid”.
However, others disagreed and fiercely defended the family, with one hitting back: “Curious how some choose to critique creativity while contributing nothing of value themselves.”
“Have you been drinking? If not, what on earth is wrong with you?” another fumed.

A third suggested: “Watch something else then, it’s not rocket science.”
While many swarmed in on the comment to support the Owens, there were others who agreed with the analysis.
“I agree,” another person wrote, while someone else admitted: “I wanted more of the kids! Was looking forward to seeing them and they’re hardly in it at all.”
“Not enjoying this as much preferred the last one. I feel its more about Amanda you hardly see any of the farm and the children. Maybe after a few more episodes it will get better,” another shared. (sic)
