Harry Styles sends heartbreaking message to Liam Payne’s parents as he breaks silence on 1D singer’s death

Following Liam Payne’s death at the age of 31 on Wednesday, several of his One Direction bandmates have paid tribute to their fellow singer.

Payne died after falling from a third-floor balcony at his Buenos Aires hotel room in Argentina. He was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called.

News of his death has sent shockwaves throughout the world of music, leading to tributes from far and wide, including several of his X Factor co-stars.

Meanwhile, music mogul Simon Cowell not only postponed the latest auditions of Britain’s Got Talent, but it was reported he’d had to step down altogether following the devastating news.

Payne’s death prompted a joint statement from One Direction on Thursday evening, with all four band members admitting they were “devastated”.

In the hours after, several of the group began sharing their individual statements, and Styles followed suit in the early hours of Friday.

“I am truly devastated by Liam’s passing,” he wrote on Instagram in view of his 47.8 million followers.

He went on: “His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it.

“Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious. He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving.

“The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend.”

Turning his attention to Payne’s family, Styles wrote how he also held them in his thoughts at this tragic time.

“My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did,” Styles signed off.

On Thursday, Styles’ mum Anne Twist also added to the widespread tributes being paid to Payne as she shared a heartbroken emoji with the quote: “Just a boy…”

Styles wasn’t the only band member to reference Payne’s wider family either, with Louis Tomlinson leaving fans in tears with his heartbreaking promise to Payne’s son Bear, seven.

Tomlinson penned: “I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul.

“I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I’d longed all my life for.
