BBC bias row as Andrea Jenkyns fumes ‘not a lot of my lines’ were used from Have I Got News For You roasting

Dame Andrea Jenkyns believes the BBC failed to give her a fair showing during her appearance on Have I Got News For You.

The former Tory MP, 50, appeared on the BBC comedy show last week and was greeted with a chorus of boos by the audience.

She complained about the audience selection during the program, but was quickly shot down by fellow panellist Ian Hislop.

Jenkyns told Martin Daubney on GB News she feels the perceived unfair treatment did not end there as show producers failed to include some of her highlights in the final edit.

“Unfortunately, some of my lines didn’t get put in there [the final edit]”, Jenkyns told GB News.

“I had a comeback line for Paul Merton and he shot me a disapproving look that wasn’t included.

“I guess it’s three-and-a-half worth of footage. To narrow it down to 30 minutes is a big ask. It was a lot to concentrate on for that long as well.

“There was a lot of banter, but I think the sad thing is that I just came across as a smiling sweety because not a lot of my lines were in there, unfortunately.”

One particularly controversial moment saw Hislop roundly booed by the audience as she praised former prime minister Boris Johnson.

She jibed that the broadcaster had “selected the audience”, only for Hislop to hit back: “You can’t just say ‘you’ve selected the audience’, you’ve got no evidence for that, no proof, it’s just b*****ks.. This isn’t GB News.”

Recalling her experience on the show, Jenkyns told Mark Dolan that she was “booed as she walked onto the stage”, before she had even said a word.

Jenkyns explained: “One by one you walk into the audience and they all walked into lots of cheers – I walked into lots of boos, being a Tory MP.

“But you expect this. When you’ve done Newsnight, Question Time… I got booed on Question Time a few years ago during the Brexit years.”

Jenkyns told GB News: “Behind the scenes was amazing, actually. Everyone was supportive, you meet the panelists and the one you’re pairing up with and actually, Ian was very professional – he was quite kind.

“You actually have a dressing room, which I’ve never had before, and they put some tea on for you, so it was great.”

Mark Dolan responded by joking Ian Hislop helped the People’s Channel with a “plug”, adding: “We’re clearly living rent free in his head”.
