Comedian Janey Godley delivers ‘devastating’ cancer update as she reveals end-of-life care placement
Comedian Janey Godley has shared she is now receiving end-of-life care after revealing recently that her cancer has spread.
In a clip posted on social media, the Glasgow-born 63-year-old announced the sad news, calling it “devastating” but going on to thank the NHS as well as friends and family.
Last week, Godley was forced to cancel her tour from hospital as she gave a worrying update.
The comedian revealed she’d had ovarian cancer in November 202 before later sharing that she’d been given the all-clear in 2022.
She posted on her X account that a scan showed “no evidence of disease”, however, was given the heartbreaking news that another scan had shown signs of the disease in her abdomen.
In a new video, she gave a candid update as she told fans: “So I’m now in palliative care and I’m at end-of-life care now in the hospital.
“The chemo ran out of options and I just couldn’t take any more of it and the cancer has spread.
“So it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it and it’s really difficult to speak about this and say to people.”
She went on to thank charities who have supported her throughout her journey. The comedian found viral fame with dubbed imitations of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news updates during the pandemic.
Following the news her cancer had returned, she told fans she would continue touring before being forced to cancel gigs earlier this month.

Despite the diagnosis, Godley continued with her tour in February and March 2023, not wanting to let her fans down as she continued working through the illness.
Bravely sharing her thoughts in the new video, she continued: “It is devastating news to know that I’m facing end-of-life but we all come to an end sometime.
“I want to thank everybody for supporting the family, especially Ashley [Godley’s daughter] and my husband.
“The overwhelming support has been amazing, and I don’t know how long I’ve got left before anybody asks. I’m not a TikTok.
