BBC The Repair Shop’s Steve Fletcher flooded with support after candid hospital update: ‘Pleased to report’

Steve Fletcher, an expert craftsman on the BBC’s The Repair Shop, has revealed he recently paid a visit to the hospital to undergo an operation.

Taking to his Instagram, the clocks expert revealed he had to go under the knife for a knee operation – but he assured fans he’s now on the mend.

Fletcher shared a photo of himself from his hospital bed decked in a hospital gown on his Instagram page with his 116k followers.

The Repair Shop star was all smiles in the snap as he allayed concerns in the accompanying caption.

Fletcher told fans: “I’m in a different kind of repair shop today… And this time it was me being repaired!

“Just had a small knee operation, and pleased to report that all went well.

“Ever grateful for the skill and kindness of our healthcare professionals – absolutely wonderful people.

“Thank you to all who looked after me today,” Fletcher signed off, prompting co-stars and fans to share their well wishes.

Co-stars The Teddy Bear Ladies, Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch, replied to the snap by saying: “Sending our love and a bear hug.”

Bookbinder Christopher Shaw similarly weighed in: “Get well soon.”

Elsewhere, fans rushed to show support, including one who wrote: “Oh my goodness as long as you keep ticking!! Speedy recovery master craftsman.”

“Hope you are back on your feet quickly,” a second echoed while a third weighed in “Get well soon, Steve. Take it easy whilst you recuperate.” (sic)

Fletcher’s latest social media update comes after The Repair Shop found itself in the headlines thanks to long-serving presenter Jay Blades.

Blades – who’s deleted all social media presence – was charged with coercive and controlling behaviour earlier this month following his split from his wife Lisa Zbozen.

On Friday, September 13, West Mercia Police released a statement regarding the charge.

They said: “54-year-old Jason Blades of Wolverhampton has been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour.
