ITV The Voice’s Tom Fletcher left in tears as he admits ‘I’m a mess’ over show first: ‘What just happened!’
A sneak peek at Saturday’s episode of The Voice on ITV has promised a show first for viewers when one singer takes to the stage.
Over the past few weeks, the likes of Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes, Danny Jones, and Tom Fletcher have been listening intently to see if music’s next big thing will wander onto the stage.
As part of the Blind Auditions stage, each of the judges is tasked with critiquing a singer based purely on their voice and can only see the performer if they turn around and offer to coach them through the next stage of the contest.
On Saturday, it appears all four judges have turned after one singer’s performance.
However, it isn’t the singer’s vocals that take centre stage in the preview clip but rather a surprise incident that leaves the ITV judges on their feet – and in Fletcher’s case, in tears.
In the clip, host Emma Willis can be seen waiting in the wings with one of the unnamed singer’s guests.
Clearly watching a historic moment in The Voice history, Willis and the guest become open-mouthed at what they’re witnessing.
The same goes for judges will.i.am and Rimes, with the latter taking to her feet to applaud whatever’s unfolding onstage.
“Oh look! Everyone’s up on their feet!” Willis remarks before the camera cuts to the singer onstage.
As the clip continues, the singer wipes away tears and it soon becomes clear she’s not alone.
Fletcher sits back down after giving a standing ovation and begins wiping the tears from under his glasses.
“What just happened? I’m a mess. I’m crying,” the McFly singer says as he takes his seat.
The clip was shared on the ITV show’s Instagram account but the accompanying caption didn’t give away what exactly has all of the judges feeling emotional.
The caption reads: “This Saturday we have a first on The Voice! What do you think it could be!?! Tune in tomorrow at 8.30pm on ITV1 ITVX and STV to find out.”
However, it didn’t take long for fans to weigh in with their thoughts on the clip – with several convinced they knew what was unfolding.
“My guess is also a proposal, because they’re all happy and teary eyed!” one fan typed in response to the clip.
