Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl fighting to save marriage after shock cheating admission: ‘Father of a new baby’
Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl, 55, admitted to cheating on his wife Jordyn Blum in a heartbroken statement on his Instagram account last night – and confirmed he had secretly fathered a baby girl.
Grohl married Blum – a 48-year-old model and TV producer – in 2003 and together they are parents to daughters Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.
Taking to his Instagram account last night, the singer revealed: “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.
“I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
The 55-year-old switched off the comments on the post, meaning fans could not directly react to his bombshell.
Turning the comments off meant his daughters Harper and Violet could not react, with them both appearing to have deleted their social media accounts, as fans were met with the message: “Sorry, this page isn’t available.
“The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram.”
This isn’t the first instance that Grohl has admitted to cheating, with his marriage to first wife Jennifer Leigh Youngblood broke down in 1997 after the star strayed.
Grohl has often been described as a “family man” and has spoken about the importance of his family in interviews throughout the years, telling The Guardian in 2007: “[My wife] Jordyn and [daughter] Violet are anchors that keep me from completely disappearing.”
Speaking to TIME in 2012, he said his family “It’s changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting”.
When Grohl and Blum first met, she was working as a producer at MTV, with the rock star admitting that he didn’t feel ready for a serious relationship when they first met.
He stopped calling Blum after a few dates and later shared to Elle in 2007: “After three months, I had a revelation and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again’.”
Fans of the singer have been left devastated by the news, and took to their X accounts, with one expressing: “I lived long enough for Dave Grohl to disappoint me.”
Another added: “Part of me has a lot of respect for how Dave Grohl has handled this – but that’s offset by the feeling of being let down & disappointed in his actions. An analogy would be finding out that your father was Nirvana’s drummer – but that he was also responsible for the Foo Fighters.”
