James Bond’s Aston Martin used by Pierce Brosnan set for auction and could fetch £70,000 – ‘Stunning’

Pierce Brosnan’s Aston Martin Vanquish is up for auction with drivers able to get their hands on the legendary James Bond supercar for around £50,000.

The Aston Martin Vanquish used by legendary Irish actor Pierce Brosnan and EON Productions to promote Die Another Day in 2002 is set to go under the hammer in October.

The slick Aston Martin is expected to fetch between £50,000 and £70,000 with experts praising the model for being a key part of British motoring and movie history.

Aston Martin’s V12-powered GT has a top speed of almost 200mph and is one of seven Vanquish models retained by Aston Martin for press duties and can be seen in several photoshoots alongside Pierce Brosnan.

It was used to promote Die Another Day in 2002, with “Y834 MWL” specifically chosen because it was finished in the same Tungsten Silver paint with Charcoal leather and an aluminium centre console.

The model heading to auction has previously sported the appropriately-placed number plate “M16 SPY” and “A12 AML”, while having 37,800 miles on the clock.

It has been under the ownership of one “prominent collector” for more than 20 years and can be seen in newspapers, magazines and on websites.

James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: “Our October auction offers a fantastic opportunity to own a slice of movie and motoring history with this stunning Aston Martin Vanquish.”

The car was also the lead car in a parade to commemorate the opening of the M6 Toll road in 2003, with the accompanying documents also included in the sale.

A local businessman from Great Wyrley was the first to drive down the M6 waving a union flag from inside the Aston Martin Vanquish, adding that he had no issues paying for the road.

McWilliam continued, saying: “Additionally, as well as the close connection to James Bond and Pierce Brosnan, who himself owned a 2002 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, the car is also a superb example of the marque’s last hand-built grand tourer.”

The Vanquish MK1 was first unveiled at the 2001 Geneva Salon, developed in conjunction with Lotus and was handbuilt at Newport Pagnell.

Only 1,503 of the Vanquish models were ever made before the arrival of the Vanquish S in 2004, according to H&H Classics.

Brosnan was reportedly so impressed with the vehicle, he purchased one which remained with him until 2015 when it was tragically destroyed in a house fire.

A number of other stunning vehicles are on offer at the Classic Motorcars auction, including a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Wetmann Coach expected to fetch up to £350,000.

This is expected to be the biggest sale at the auction and is Ettore Bugatti’s own Type 41 Royale when it won the 1929 Grand Prix d’Honneur Concours d’Elegance.
